Frequently Asked Questions
Will I be running with a group, or are these personalised tours?
Most of our tours are booked on an individual, or small group basis to accommodate all running paces and your requirements. We will advise you in advance if there will be others joining your group. We look to keep it small and personal though so often it will just be you and me!
Will I be able to keep up?
Yes! We run at your pace (as long as that’s not too quick for us) in order to make sure you have a great experience. And since runs are booked on an individual basis you don’t have to worry about being left behind by a group.
How do I pay?
Payment is taken before the run either via Paypal or bank transfer. Once you have confirmed your run details, transfer details will be sent to you for payment within 48 hours.
Will there be water or food?
We don’t provide water for the shorter runs, but we do encourage you to bring your own, especially for the longer runs. For most of the tours we pass plenty of shops so you can easily pop in and buy a bottle if required. We don’t provide any food on the tours so please bring snacks if you think you require them.
Do I need to be able to run the whole time?
While these are running tours, we aren’t militant about requiring tour participants to run the entire time. We go at your pace whether that’s a run, a run/walk or simply a walk. It’s up to you, and your guide will keep your pace.
What should I wear?
Other than your usual running kit, we advise you to check the weather in advance and pack appropriate running wear. We recommend a waterproof jacket and hat, gloves etc if the weather is cold; especially if you are going on a tour that takes in Arthur’s Seat. It can be very chilly up there, even in summer! It can also be muddy around Arthur’s Seat so wear trainers with good grip that you don’t mind getting dirty. For the city tours normal running shoes will be fine.
Where do the tours start?
The tours start outside the Travelodge Edinburgh Central, Waterloo Place , however we can often arrange to meet you outside your accommodation so please ask about this.
Are kids welcome to participate?
Yes! Kids aged 12 and up are full price. Kids under 12 are half price. Kids in a stroller are free! Please note, kids need consent of parents to participate if they are under the age of 18.
Can I buy gift vouchers?
We don’t currently offer gift vouchers, but we can certainly put something together for you if required!
Are bathrooms available along the route?
We can typically find a bathroom (or a bush!) if needed along our routes, so if you ever need to stop, just let your guide know, and they will find a place to stop.
When will I receive my photos?
Photos, which will be taken on the guide’s, will be e-mailed or sent via message to you, usually within 24 hours of your run.
Am I allowed to tip my guide?
You are not required to do so, but of course if you wish…..
What if I’m late for my run?
If you are late for your run, your guide will wait 15 minutes. We provide you with contact information for late calls and emergencies upon booking and encourage you to call ahead if you are going to be late.
What if the weather is bad?
And……We live in Scotland, we run in all types of weather! Adventure is our business, and we are willing to run in all weather conditions to meet your requests. In case of inclement weather (extremely high winds, flash floods, blizzards etc), we will attempt to reschedule your tour for another time if applicable. We will usual wait until as close to tour time as possible before deciding to cancel or reschedule. See below about refunds.
If my plans change or I have a conflict on the day of my tour, can I reschedule?
In cases of emergency or changed travel plans, we will reschedule your tour. Simply call us, and we will issue you a rain check.
What is your refund policy?
In event of an emergency or inclement weather, refund are only issued within 48 hours of your scheduled run. Your refund will be processed to you within the week following the cancelled run.
