About your guides:

Pamela Whitlie

Running has been a passion of mine for the last 16 years and as my confidence has grown, it has gradually taken me from doing a few 10k’s, to Half Marathons, to Marathons and a few Ultras. I love being out on the trails and in the hills but I also love the city of Edinburgh where I have lived for 20 years and never tire of the hidden gems it has to offer. The freedom of running is always a joy, whatever the conditions!  Every year I try to run in new places and participate in new events in different parts of the world because the joy or running is that you can take it anywhere!

I am really lucky to have worked in the Fitness Industry for the last 6 years and am a Qualified Personal Trainer, Pilates Instructor and Freelance Group Fitness Instructor. Enjoying and celebrating our health and wellbeing is something I am very passionate about and what better than combining that with sharing all the things that make my home and the City of Edinburgh really special.

When I travel I always pack my trainers, I really enjoy exploring a new town on foot and it’s a great way to find your way around. I also try to enter a local race when I am travelling, it’s always a unique experience and runners are generally nice people to hang out with! I have been running since I was in my teens and have completed 2 ultra marathons, 8 marathons, numerous half marathons and lots of other types of races such as cross country and duathlons. I started organising races last year, I love getting others together to run and finding new challenges.

I have lived in Edinburgh since 2009 and adore this city, it is so vibrant and full of life. I live by the sea on the North side of the city and most of my own running is along the coastline of the Firth of Forth which I would love to share with you if you fancy getting out of the city. Or, I am very happy to come into town and show you the city sights! I took part in the Seven Hills of Edinburgh race this summer and loved it, it’s a long tough route but you get such a sense of the city by running this route. I also love Arthur’s Seat, the panoramic views of Edinburgh and afar from up there are awesome!
